Meetings are first Thursday of each month, at 7:05 a.m., in the Seminar Room. All members are required to attend meetings.

Service Opportunity- Babysitting at MSGA
Tuesday, December 13th from 6:00-7:30.  You will be fed pizza!  Few children are expected.

Cobb Christmas Can Collection and Valentines to Soldiers
It is mandatory that you bring donations of any canned or boxed goods for Cobb Christmas by Dec. 8th.  Cards can be picked up at that time for Valentines to soldiers.  They are due by December 15.

December 1st Meeting
Get started writing Valentines to the soldiers.  All cards will be due December 16th.
We will also discuss plans for the Cobb Christmas Parade.  Beta Club always presents a great banner for the assembly. This year the assembly is December 9th.  Each member should bring in Cans for donation.  Service hours will be granted.
T- Shirt Order
T-Shirts were order November 18th for returning Junior Club Members, and all those who paid $5.00. Shirts will arrive before the Christmas Break.
Returning Member's Dues
All membership dues are now past due and must be paid prior to the end of the semester. Seniors who have not paid dues will not receive an honor cord for graduation ceremony in May.
Christmas Cards to Soldiers/T- Shirt $ Due Immediately
The last day that Christmas Cards to Soldiers can be accepted is Monday November 14th.  5 cards =1 service hour. It is mandatory that all members participate.  Final collection of $5.00 for any non returning junior member who wants to purchase a t-shirt is the 14th also. 
MUST MINISTRIES ZOMBIE WALK- Marietta Square October 29th
This FUN event is being held to support donations to MUST.  http://MariettaZombieWalk.org Dress like a soldier, and watch guard over the Zombies that are captured!

Fall Festivals during MCS Elementary Schools
Westside, Burruss and Hickory Hills have each requested volunteers for their Fall Events during the month of October/early November.  Please call the schools, if you are willing to help.  Service hours issued.
Beta Club Supports Marietta Reads and The Bert Show Project!
Beta Club has collected over 400 letters to send the Bert Show's Project! Great job MHS students!
Beta Club showed it's continued support of writing letters to military soldiers during Marietta Reads on Saturday, September 24th. Club members sponsored a table where letters were participants of the event wrote cards to soldiers.  The letters will be added to a collection gathered from advisements throughout the school, and sent to the Bert Shows Big Thank You Project. The goal is set for 350,000 letters to be collected.
Service Projects and 10 Hour Logs
Ten Documented Service Hours are due by the May 3rd meeting.  Logs are available at each meeting, or from Mrs. Overton-Ervin.  Signatures are required for hours earned.  Seniors must submit logs prior to receiving their honor cords for graduation.

Club members are requried to participate in certain group projects.  These include Friends of Our Troops, where members write a minimum of 5 letters to servicemen, three times per year. (Christmas, Valentines and Spring/Summer)  Five letters= one service hour.
Also, members are required to participate in Cobb Christmas, by collecting food donations. Food collections will be accepted throughout the school year to help stock local food pantries  Bring your donations to Mrs. Overton-Ervin in room H123.

Optional service project oportunities will be announced and posted throughout the year.  Currently,
Winnwood Retirement Community is looking for some volunteers for September to come in once a month or every other weekend to volunteer and do some activities with our residents.
Beta Club Induction
 Beta Club Induction is  Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 7:00 pm in the Seminar Room at Marietta High, and will replace the morning meeting for October.
Attendance is required for all members. See Mrs. Overton-Ervin in room H123, if you can not attend.
